HANCO Office Coordinator - 40 hrs/wk, 1st shift

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The purpose of the Hanco Office Coordinator is to perform administrative duties of the front office as well as accounts billing responsibilities. The position will also assist as needed in the role of EMT. This position reports to the Director of Hanco/EMS Chief.

HANCO EMS is the Primary 911 provider for the local community and also provides a wide spectrum of medical transport services.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES

  • Duty 1: Assist the Hanco Leadership and Billing Teams
  • Duty 2: Responds to telephone traffic with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel in a courteous and timely manner. Records accurate information for patient records. Greets all visitors in the front office including patients, sales reps, etc. Orders office supplies.
  • Duty 3: Data collection and entry. Development of spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, forms, letters, memorandums and reports for various projects. Work with IT to develop reports as needed in EMR or other software programs.
  • Duty 4: Reviews all the patients billing information entered into Rescue Net by Dispatch and verifies that all ICD-9 codes and HCPCS codes are correct. Any incorrect information is corrected at this time. Once all information is accurate and thorough, the run is verified in the system and is printed.
  • Duty 5: Utilizes appropriate workflows to follow up on the following weekly tasks: Check Medicaid Eligibility, Medicare, Anthem, Self Pay/Insurance Payment to Patient, Self Pay, Bad Debt Review, 30 Day Time Pay, Phone Call to Insurance, Deceased, Automatic Crossovers, Credit Balances, Trips Pending Verification, Returned Mail and Open Facility Invoices.
  • Duty 6: Processes and responds to Denials and Information Requests appropriately and in a timely manner.
  • Duty 7: Utilizes down time to research and educates themselves on healthcare topics and industry updates. Places a strong emphasis on being educated on document compliance and strives to pass along pertinent information to management and staff. Researches competitor rates, reimbursement rates and industry standards.
  • Duty 8: Responsible for the safe record keeping of patient care reports. Organizes and files patient run reports, accounts receivable reports and other miscellaneous documentation upstairs in a locked area.
  • Duty 9: Completes month end reporting in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Duty 10: Functions in a back-up capacity for the EMS Division as an EMT. The function when in this capacity is to deliver pre-hospital and trauma care within the scope of their specific certification level. This obligation includes but is not limited to: Scene survey, Triage and assessment, Extrication, Stabilization, Treatment, Transporting, and Communication
  • Duty 11: Performs other duties as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have current Certified Ambulance Coder certification (CAC) or obtain within 12 months
  • Ohio division of EMS certification of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) or obtain within 12 months
  • Current Healthcare Provider Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days
  • A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver's license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state). You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy and insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle.

  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area's policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, sitting for long periods, and handling of materials. The ability to lift, maneuver, and walk up and down stairs carrying 120 pounds or more with assistance and without difficultly.

This position is classified at risk for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc).
