We are hiring for an Alcohol and Drug Counselor 2 position.
Under general supervision, an Alcohol and Drug Counselor 2 provides drug and alcohol counseling and assists patients to function independently.
The Job Opportunity and Duties:
What you will do:
- Conduct interviews & provides counseling services to alcohol & other drug dependent patients/clients
- Facilitates screening and interviewing of patients/clients from intake to discharge
- Delivers direct services including facilitating of group & individual therapy
- Performs overall case management & crisis intervention
- Develops client treatment plans & ensures compliance with applicable standards, agency policies & administrative regulations & institutional rules
- Monitors clients' progress in treatment; maintains clinical case records, documentation, and case files
- Refers clients to community programs and resources. Works closely with AA/NA volunteers.
- Participates as part of treatment team (planning meetings, case presentation and discussions, and provides services in accordance with principles of a therapeutic community)
- Completes & maintains accurate and timely documentation and reports
- Maintains knowledge and adherence to compliance requirements for Joint Commission, OMHAS, and COBH.
- Attends staff meetings, trainings, and conferences as required
This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of #10 on the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday, mostly daytime hours with an occasional evening. This position is located within Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare at 2200 West Broad Street Columbus, Ohio 43223.
Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

'Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor' credential recognized by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board or other Ohio licensing authority with jurisdiction over professionals authorized to provide counseling services (e.g., Medical Board; Psychology Board; Nursing Board; Counselor & Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board); valid driver's license.
