Correction Officer Jobs in Texas

A Corrections Officer, also known as a Correctional Officer, plays a crucial role in the social service industry by ensuring the security, safety, and welfare of incarcerated individuals in a prison, jail or reformatory. Furthermore, they are essential in providing a controlled environment where inmates can rehabilitate and prepare for reintegration into society.

Important skills for a Corrections Officer include strong interpersonal and communication skills, physical strength, self-discipline, assertiveness, and the ability to make sound judgments quickly. They should have a high school diploma or equivalent, although some positions may require a bachelor's degree. In many cases, they should also complete a training academy as well as on-the-job training. Some states may require certification such as the Certified Correctional Officer (CCO) certification.
