History
ATTIC Correctional Services, Inc. began in 1977, originating from the Vet’s House in Madison, Wisconsin as a residential program for Vietnam veterans. In 1979, we moved to our present halfway house location, increased the beds to 19 and serve adult male offenders in our flagship program called ATTIC Correctional Treatment Center.
ATTIC is an acronym for: Alternative To Traditional Incarceration of Citizens. Since our inception, this Agency has developed services to meet the increasing needs for supervision and treatment of correctional clients living in Wisconsin communities.
As a private, non-profit, 501( c)(3) corporation, ACS receives funding, in part, from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Wisconsin Department of Health Services, United States District Courts, Minnesota Department of Corrections, various Wisconsin counties, and certified clinic insurance and private pay arrangements.
Mission Statement
“To conceive and develop effective interventions, which will enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and the reduction of recidivism.”
Our mission statement is carried out in the wide variety of community corrections programming throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota. Program goals include: providing offenders with structure and supervision, promoting offender acquisition of appropriate social behavior, preparation for offender self-sufficiency, and emphasizing community/victim compensation for loss due to crime.
